Hiking - There are two hiking trails with excellent rugged campsites leading from the Picnic and Falls areas. The trails are very rugged, and it is only recommended that experienced backpackers make the attempt. The trail to Kwasitchewan Falls is 22 km about 13 mi return. Should you be hearty enough to undertake this trek, you will encounter aspects of the northern Manitoba wilderness seen by few. Please, if you pack it in, pack it out again with you.
Canoe and Kayak - One can easilly launch a canoe or kayak downstream from the falls. This offers the traveller the opportunity to take a less strenuous route to Kwastichewan Falls. Simply portage your canoe or kayak down the trail to the river past the rapids below the falls.
Boat - It is possible to launch a small motorboat 12 to 14 ft, but the place to launch it is a little tough to find. About 100 meters north of the Pisew Falls access road is an area where the Provincial Highways Department stores gravel and occasionally prepares pavement for highway maintainence. you will find at the north end of this area, an overgrown road that leads to the former pump-house for the long-since dismantled Soab Lake Mine.
Not everyone has the experience and fortitude to enjoy a 22 km hike while carrying enough food and water for the duration of your experience on your back, with the possible exception of those involved in some branch of military service, or devout outdoors-persons. As the map of the Kwasitchewan Falls trail shows, the campsites are also accessible by water and a short portage via the Grass River and Phillips Lake.
Larger, motorized boats over 14' are generally not recommended because of the lack of adequate boat launching facilities.
